Windows 10

Download Windows 10 for free and install it on your computer for use. There are many versions of the operating system, each one with its own features, so you'll need a powerful PC to get started. This article will walk through how to download Windows 10 for free, including installing the software and setting up Microsoft accounts that enable access to all the programs for this version, and how to pay for upgrades.

How To Get Started With Windows 10 From Scratch If you don't already have a personal computer, be sure you have an internet connection. The best way to get onto Microsoft's network is to sign into the official Windows website at http://www.microsoft.com/ or download and install Windows from Microsoft's website at http://www.microsoft.com/go/windows. After installation completes, you'll see the option to Update Personalize options. Click the Update button if you don't want to keep using Windows in case something goes wrong with it. Once done, follow the instructions to restart your machine. Follow these steps to set up your computer with Microsoft Accounts: Create a new account by clicking Start > Computer Configuration >

Security > User Account. Select the name you want to use for this account and click the next button. Enter a username and password and then click Next. A list of available user accounts will appear. Choose which account is correct and fill out any information that you need. Click Continue when finished. You can now go ahead and click Install Now. In the future, Windows could ask whether you want to grant additional

permissions to log on automatically. Skip that step. When prompted, select Yes. Click OK after completing the setup process. Connect Your Internet Connection Make sure you have the right type of device connected to your router and modem before going ahead. These devices vary depending on your location and provider, but they should have at least two ports. Most modern routers come with multiple ports, so you can connect them all together. Plug any USB port you find. It may be the full-size model, or simply just a microsd card plugged straight into the adapter. Power On A blank DVD or flash drive will work here, as long as you've got it sitting on top of your desktop. Open the document either at the start menu or from within Windows Explorer, and select Preview.

If this page doesn't show up under My Computer, check your Start Menu folder, where the program files are usually located. Note Down All Programs You used and those still running are listed in the Programs section, especially since there are often duplicate entries between apps. Right-click on any entry to open it to view it more clearly. Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-L to jump to this screen. Find what is currently selected and press the Delete key to remove the app, or hold down the Shift key to move it and select New File, if nothing is currently selected, or the Spacebar to create another.

Double-clicking on the item removes (selects) everything else associated with it, leaving only the item itself. Expand Any Programs In other words, delete all of the existing applications without affecting anything else you have open. For example, I can close Chrome and Edge and only lose Firefox tabs left open; otherwise, most apps will remain visible even though browsers you never have installed remain open in memory. Close Notepad Express Web Site Notepad Express Web Site (or webpages Express web site,

whatever you prefer) lets you save web sites in HTML files so you can add the URL to your browser bookmarks or clipboard in real time. It also allows you to quickly bookmark sites directly in Windows and save them as pdfs in Word or Pages or both online in onenote web browser. Save All Files To a specific website with saved pages, such as www.google.com or your favorite blog, right-click the webpage in question and select Options. Choose Save Website. Type an address for whatever you want, and save the file as.pdf or.docx format.

Be Careful and Use Only Those Websites You Need Don't forget! Every service requires permission, so unless you're paying for the ability to browse the net, try not to overuse any particular site and make sure you only use the ones that are necessary.

Here's an explanation of common mistakes to avoid: Never Save Something Else Instead of pressing Save, you can instead copy the text content anywhere on the page from where you last copied it. However, this will overwrite everything else on the same page if the original copy of the page was changed, making things easy to lose. Try not to change links that were clicked elsewhere on the page. Even if a link has been clicked elsewhere, it won't have taken effect on your local copy, meaning that it won't actually get saved to the cloud. Save Everything Offline If you've ever downloaded a bunch of music to listen to offline with itunes, you know how important it is! Unfortunately, almost every website you visit online also keeps some data on your device offline. Some websites let you turn off their services in order to prevent tracking with cookies, while others allow only limited browsing sessions.

Before you hit Save, you can go back later to re-capture your downloads and prevent them from being stored in the cloud. Otherwise, consider turning off these settings until you're ready to use them again. Back Up All Important Documents A good backup is essential for storing everything online and saving you time in the event of failure.

Go to the Settings tab, select Backup & Restore or Log Into Safe Mode. Check What Drives Are Available and Where Do They Live in my BIOS. Then you can choose who can restore the Drive(s) to wherever you like. Set System Properties for Hard Drive To enable automatic hard drive backup, choose Advanced Mode in the BIOS. Just enter the boot order. Wait for macos to finish restoring. As the macos boots up into Recovery Mode, it will take you to this screen showing the health of the disks in your computer.

Click Back Up Now. This process usually takes several minutes. Since Apple uses Secure Folder Encryption, you won't have to worry about people having physical locations where the drives are stored. If you decide you don't want to do hard disk backups anymore, leave this tab unchecked and continue to use your normal methods of backing up information. Restart Your Device After doing the above steps, you can restart your computer.

While Windows might prompt you to input a recovery seed (as with pcs that lack firewire), you should make sure you set up a secure Internet connection before rebooting your computer, so you don't share vital files over insecure Wi-Fi networks. That means connecting the computer via Ethernet to a home network, a server in your office building, or on public Wi-Fi, before restarting it. Read More At Home >>

Halal-tagged vaccine ad spurs controversy

ISLAMABAD: A leading consumer group has protested against the use of religion by a Swiss pharmaceutical transnational company to sell its vaccine tagging it with Halal.

A spokesman of the group said that Halal is an Arabic word which means religiously permissible, fearing that it may affect other vaccines crucial for children and women survival.

He added the said company advertised its vaccine for meningitis under
cover of 'public service message' flashing a popular celebrity, a TV person of religious program to weight the ad and target consumers in a deceptive manner.

He said on the complaint of The Network for Consumer Protection, the
Competition Commission of Pakistan, a state-funded body to ensure fair business practices, has already initiated probe and issued a letter to the company asking it to explain the said ad.

He said the advertisement is targeting around 200,000 intending pilgrims, who need to get vaccinated against Meningitis before traveling to Saudi Arabia.

He said another pharmaceutical company has also adopted the same
advertisement strategy and is claiming that its vaccine imported from Belgium is also Halal by using the image of Holy Makkah to deceive the consumers.

CEO of The Network, a member body of the Consumer International, a UK based world federation of consumer groups, Nadeem Iqbal said that use of such words like Halal may negatively affect on use of other vaccines particularly being used for polio eradication in the country.

He said this trend of tagging a product with Halal or Haram is not restricted to health sector only but the use of religion to sell products has also spread to banking sector.

He said The Network for Consumer Protection has already lodged a complaint with the Competition Commission against a Middle Eastern Bank, which is using similar tactics to entice the customers besides a company which is making milk packs. (APP)

England squad named for ODI series against India

LONDON: Kevin Pietersen was the big name missing from the England squad announced on Friday for the upcoming five-match one-day international series against India.

The first-choice batsman has been rested as part of the England and Wales Cricket Board's policy of 'workload management'.

Ben Stokes, who made his England debut in Thursday's win over Ireland, has been retained alongside a clutch of returning stars who were excused the trip to Dublin.

England have rested a number of players under Andy Flower's leadership, with the likes of James Anderson, Paul Collingwood and -- before his retirement from the one-day game -- Andrew Strauss among those to have benefited from a break.

Pietersen will play in the Twenty20 match at Old Trafford on Wednesday before standing down for the ODI series, which starts in Durham on September 3.

Explaining the move, national selector Geoff Miller said: "The decision to omit Kevin Pietersen from the one-day squad is in line with our policy of sensibly managing player workloads and will give the opportunity to another batsmen to test himself batting at number four."

Ian Bell, back in the squad alongside five other regulars who skipped the 11-run win over Ireland, would appear to be the man most likely to take that role, creating a chance for Stokes at number six.

The 20-year-old, born in New Zealand but raised in Cumbria, made just three at Clontarf before falling to Paul Stirling but is held in high regard by the England hierarchy.

He effectively takes the all-rounder role previously bestowed on Luke Wright, who has enjoyed only modest returns in recent times.

Stokes is not currently bowling due to a finger injury but with Ravi Bopara and Samit Patel also included, there should be no shortage of options.

The elevation of Buttler and Hales, meanwhile, continues England's interest in the next generation following yesterday's debut caps for Stokes, Scott Borthwick and James Taylor.

Alastair Cook will return at the top of the one-day order and reclaim the captaincy from Eoin Morgan, while Stuart Broad will skipper the Twenty20 side for the second time in Manchester.

Uncapped pair Jos Buttler of Somerset and Alex Hales of Nottinghamshire have been called up to the Twenty20 squad.

England squad
Alastair Cook (captain), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Ben Stokes, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott

India-Pakistan football series delayed

KARACHI: Hopes of a revival of India-Pakistan sporting ties were dashed on Friday when a two-match football series between the two sides scheduled to be held in Britain next month was called off, an official said.

"The series has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances and a fresh date will be announced in due course," said a PFF spokesman in a statement.

The two-matches were scheduled for Derby on September 3 and Glasgow on September 9 and were anxiously awaited by fans at home and in Britain, which has a sizeable South Asian population.

Pakistan had announced a 22-member squad for the series on Thursday and the team was scheduled to fly on Saturday.

The series was supposed to be played last year but the Indian Football Federation could not get clearance from its own government.

New Delhi put a stop to bilateral sporting ties with Pakistan in the wake of terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2006, which India blamed on militants based in Pakistan.

The attacks, which killed 166 people, led to India's abandoning their national cricket team's tour of Pakistan in early 2009, and no series have been played since.

Pakistan cricket authorities are trying to organise a tour of India early next year.

Risalpur bomb blast culprits copped

NOWSHEHRA: Police have apprehended two Tehrik-e-Talban Pakistan (TTP) commanders who allegedly detonated a bomb in Risalpur a day earlier killing a number of people, Geo News reported Friday.

ICC announces Test team of the year

LONDON: Sri Lankan, Kumar Sangakkara was named captain and wicketkeeper for the International Cricket Council’s Test team of the year. England dominated the squad with 11 players in the lineup.

Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann and James Anderson have all been picked by an ICC panel chaired by former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd.

Dale Steyn makes it into the lineup for the fourth straight year alongside South Africa teammates Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers and Jacques Kallis. India batting great Sachin Tendulkar completes the side. India pace bowler Zaheer Khan was picked as 12th man.

Trott and Cook both made it onto four-man shortlists for the Cricketer of the Year and Test Player of the Year awards.

The team only includes players from five countries and no Pakistani player has been selected.

Khosa slams Punjab govt. over Shahbaz Taseer's kidnapping

LAHORE: Governor Punjab Latif Khosa strongly criticized the provincial government over the kidnapping of Shahbaz Taseer, Geo News reported.

He said that either the Punjab government was involved in the kidnapping or it was incompetent. He added that fingers had also been pointed at the Punjab government over the killing of slain Salman Taseer.

Speaking to a press conference at Governor House Lahore, Latif Khosa said that Shahbaz Sharif should come back to control Punjab and rescue Shahbaz Taseer rather than preaching about Karachi’s situation.

The governor said that the policy of reconciliation should not be considered their weakness.

Earlier Salman Taseer was killed and now his son Shahbaz Taseer has been kidnapped; actions like these will not be tolerated. The absence of providing security and the kidnapping of Shahbaz Taseer could be a conspiracy to derail democracy.

India's corruption deadlock looks set to end soon

NEW DELHI: India's parliament prepared on Friday to debate the anti-corruption proposals of a self-styled Gandhian activist in a move to end an 11-day hunger strike that has united millions of Indians against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's government.

The campaign by 74-year-old Anna Hazare has sparked the biggest protests in decades from a middle class angered by endemic bribes. He emerged as a lightening rod for widespread anger at a political class seen as arrogant and out-of touch.

The debate on Hazare's proposals to create a powerful anti-corruption agency, a condition he made to end his fast, may take place on Saturday as parliament struggled on Friday to agree on the wording of several of the proposals, sources in the ruling Congress Party told.

Several thousand supporters gathered by the stage where Hazare was fasting in an open ground in the capital, New Delhi, singing Bollywood songs. Hazare has lost 7 kilos, but his health is stable, doctors said.

After a personal appeal from Singh, Hazare said on Thursday evening he would consider breaking his fast if parliament began discussing his tough anti-corruption proposals, including incorporating low level civil servants into graft probes.

There was some confusion to whether Hazare would end the fast at the start of the debate or when the anti-corruption bill was passed, and the debate may not take place on Friday. (Reuters)

Geo News gets CCTV video of Shahbaz’s car

LAHORE: Geo News has received CCTV video footage of Shahbaz Taseer’s car moments before he was kidnapped in the Gulberg area of the city.

The video shows the white Mercedes of Shahbaz Taseer making a turn towards his office at 10:19 AM. It is on this street that the son of the former Punjab governor was kidnapped.

Reportedly, an SUV and a motorcycle with at least four men on them were on Shahbaz Taseer's car's tail before he was abducted on Friday morning.

Police say that Shahbaz had been provided with a security escort, which was not with him at the time of the kidnapping.

Regular physical activity essential during Ramazan

Islamabad

Many people tend to avoid physical activity during Ramazan due to the risk of dehydration. This is a misconception. Just as it is essential to fully embrace the spiritual aspects of Ramazan, it is also important to continue and maintain one s physical activity routine, with the type of exercise being adjusted according to meal timings during the fast.

Consultant nutritionist at Shifa International Dr. Rezzan gave this piece of advice while talking to this correspondent here on Wednesday. Although the advice comes a little late, given that Ramazan is almost over, the importance of regular physical activity during the holy month should be remembered nevertheless. Physical activity should be an important part of the Ramazan schedule. The fasting month can be a perfect time for losing unwanted fat, and maintaining body muscle and tone. The common misconception is to cut back totally on exercise and workout, and resume it after Eidul Fitr. Completely avoiding training during Ramazan fasting can lead to loss of muscle, strength and stamina, Dr. Rezzan stated in a single breath.

Although fasting might cause dehydration symptoms like fatigue, dizziness and headache, most of the sport authorities recommend continuing on daily exercise with the caution of avoiding high-impact sports during the day. The type of exercise should be adjusted according to the time of fasting and the meal timings. Cardio exercises such as walking, cycling, swimming and aerobics can be recommendable either a few hours prior to breaking the fast, since the body will be refuelled shortly thereafter, or after breaking the fast, the nutritionist said. With reference to weight training, Dr. Rezzan recommended that it be done either before sehri or after iftar. If the workout will be after breaking the fast, meals should be in small portions and should include easily digestible foods such as milk and products combined with fruit and cereals or light sandwich made with bran bread and combined with any protein food (i.e., chicken, fish, cheese, peanut butter, etc).

Exercise, Dr. Rezzan said, can be followed with another light dinner. Ramazan should not be the month of excessive eating or total relaxation. One should still continue normal routine life and daily activities, exercise and maintain a healthy body. The body copes well with physical activity, she informed.

During Ramazan, meal frequency reduces to two rather than three, with no snacks in-between the two meals. Due to longer summer days, the gap between the two meals is about 15 hours this Ramazan. The body reacts to the fasts by increasing the fat stores. This fat is consumed over the course of the day, Dr. Rezzan said.

Meals should ideally be balanced with foods from all the five food groups namely, milk and milk products, grains, meat/pulses, fruits, and vegetables. Fill two-thirds of the plate with grains, fruit and vegetables, and one-third with protein foods such as chicken, fish, mutton, beef, egg or pulses. Include about half a cup of milk or yoghurt to sehri and iftar meals, the dietician recommended.

It is important to ensure that sufficient water is consumed between iftar and sehri. At least eight glasses a day is the recommendation. Lack of water stresses the body greatly, and can also lead to painful headaches.

Instead of a balanced meal, if mostly fried food, juices and sweets are consumed, more fat will be accumulated in the body than can be burned off during the day, which will contribute to obesity, and can lead to a number of injurious health conditions such as diabetes, Dr. Rezzan warned in conclusion.
